While I was out of town for a couple of days, the pump in my pond stopped working. Sadly, all but 3 of my goldfish died and ALL of my very large Koi died. I've had the Koi for about 7 years. I bought them when they were no bigger than about 2-3 inches. They were all over 2 1/2 feet when they died. Through the years, I've protected and kept them safe from disease, hungry herons and roaming raccoons and in the end it was a stinkin' pump clogged from another damn dust storm that took all of their lives. It just makes me sick to think that they suffered a slow death from lack of oxygen. I cried lots of tears as I buried them in my vegetable garden. Their bodies will enrich the soil for the next planting in the Fall and that gives me a little bit of comfort knowing that they are part of the circle of life. Here is a video I took of them a couple of years ago.
Thanks for letting me share.
