I've been busy with the holidays and ORGANIZING my studio! I know, don't faint, it's a miracle :-) I can actually find stuff in there! I still need to build a few different shelf pieces in order to organize my broken china better, but I'm getting there. So now to catch up a little bit on what's been happening here at the Mosaic Cottage...
First, I've got to give a big shout out and Thank You to Romantic Country Homes for surprising me with a pic of my cupcakes and a nice little write-up. So AWESOME!!
Next, I promised that I would share some mosaic art from my New Orleans trip last month.
This is a bar on Bourbon street. We only walked down this street once and that was enough. Kinda felt like we needed a shower afterwards....if you know what I mean, but the mosaic is AWESOME!
Check out this babe in a gallery in the Quarter! I need one just like her for my garden!! Yes??!!!
This next mosaic sculpture is Fabulous!! It is called Still Standing and the artist is Shannon Landis Hansen. I had specifically gone looking for this piece after seeing it on Facebook. It said it was located in City Park, but after an hour and a half search of not finding it, we asked someone and they said it had been moved 2 days before. What are the odds of that when it had been in City Park for over 2 years? Well, I got on Facebook and contacted the artist and she directed me to it's new location. I LOVE Facebook!! Another cool story about Facebook is that my friend Chris from Chicago saw that I was in New Orleans at the same time he was visiting, so we were able to get together for a bit and catch up!:-)
Here's a floor in a shop
Like I said before, I'm still working on The Wall. I've been cutting a gazillion...yes a gazillion small purple and lavendar circles. I still have SEVERAL more to cut. This is what I'm doing with them..
I also just finished up this piece and it will be at Xico Gallery on 1/14/11 for the show called Eye Candy. Come out and visit me at the opening :-)
Christmas was GREAT! Here is a pic of our annual seafood fest on Christmas Eve. Missed not having daughter #1 and her family here
Watching my granddaughter on Christmas morning was all I needed for Christmas :-)
Sorry such a lengthy post, but I have been slackin' lately.
Here's wishing you the BEST NEW YEAR EVER!!! (until next year that is ;-)
See ya soon!
xoxo!
Michelle
p.s. Some of the above I had already shared on Facebook. I seem to be a little better at checking in there. I'm working on trying to figure out how to put my Facebook Link in the sidebar :-)
