Bee News

So I seem to have quite the fascination with bee's lately. I think my fascination started with the news of how the bee's were dying and disappearing in large numbers and how this affects our crops and our own survival. Then came that nasty bee sting that I experienced this summer and it made me wonder.....should I (we) be paying attention more closely?? Mother Nature has a way of sending us warning signs and it seems more often than not, we do not pay attention. As I watch my neighbors saturate their yards with weed spray and bug spray (which causes my to choke for days due to the strong smell) I think to myself, of course they are dying. Then I wonder, what is all that Poison is doing to "us"??

Anyway.....they (the bee's) definitely have my attention. Here is my latest piece.

It is a flower clock and the bee is blue with a USA stamp in it's wing.

My message with this piece is that the bee is feeling blue due to it's uncertain demise and the clock represents the fact that Time is running out.

This should be a BLAST!!!! I am so excited to participate in another show hosted by Domestic Bliss. These shows are unlike most other art and craft shows. Nope! Domestic Bliss Shows are OVER~THE~TOP, AWESOME, super CREATIVE, JAW DROPPING events!!! Did I leave anything out???

Something new for the studio

Sorry to have been gone so long. My to~do list is soooooooooooo LONG! However, I am determined to complete every single task on it AND soon! This is making me a bit tired though. My butt is draggin'!

Anyway.......

I just purchased a new cabinet for my studio from Ikea. I love it!!! BUT, have you ever put together anything from Ikea??? Holy Heck! This wasn't my first experience with Ikea furniture and it sure wasn't any easier than the last time. I think my first clue that this was going to be difficult was when I opened up the picture only instructions and the first item shows 1 person with a sad face putting the cabinet together and it has a big X through the picture. The next picture shows 2 people putting it together with happy faces. Well! There was no one else around and I wasn't about to wait. Long story short, it is done and it was a B****!

I am smiling today and here it is

I bought this so that I can put my finished mosaics in it while I'm completing individual orders or store items for future shows. The shelves are adjustable so I can move them depending on sizes of mosaics.

My studio is an absolute disaster right now.......even more than before I got started on this cabinet :-) Hopefully, between completing orders and working on "the wall", I can get this place organized.

Speaking of the wall

The wall is going to see some big changes next week. I have plans to devote many hours to it. It helps that our temps are starting to come down. Believe it or not, there is a big difference between the low 100 degree temps  and the 115 degree temps.

Okay, back to work I go. I am TRULY hoping to find some time to come and visit some blogs today (tonight) and see what you're all up to. Wish me luck!

For those of you who inquired about purchasing the violin or wanted a mosaic done on your violin or wanted a cupcake, I will try and get back with you today. I am SO BEHIND in email and I apologize for that. I've been drowning in cupcake orders, but I'm beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel. Whoo Hoo!

Okay, must get back to work.
