New Birdhouse

I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday :-) I plan to work in the yard most of the day and soak up some sunshine. The temperature is supposed to be in the low 80's today. Yay!!

Anyway, here's a pic of the newest birdhouse. It will be heading to a new home this coming week. This birdhouse was a bear to make and I am glad it is finished. I am pleased with the way it turned out though and hope you will be too Ruth! :-)

Fungi Completion and more garden happiness

So, I FINALLY got around to finishing up my mushroom. Sheesh! That took me forever, but that was due to many other projects for other people that had to be finished first and of course, pesky shower projects.

Anyway, remember this.   Instructions on how to make this cement mushroom are here.

I thought I would also share some of my garden happiness. Pretty much every plant thrives this time of year.....then comes the 115 degree heat and so many of them go bye~bye.

 

 

   

 

We've been feasting on a lot of salads from my lettuce and spinach plantings.It has been wonderful and no soggy lettuce! We've also eaten most of the broccoli and all of the cauliflower. I've decided that I'm going to work at planting more edible plants throughout the yard and try to pick more and buy less. No pesticides and everything is really fresh.

Magazine Tears & Joy and then there are Roses

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! I sure did ;-)

So, have you heard about all of the magazines that are taking a nose dive?? I am a magazine NUT! I have several subscriptions that bring me much joy, but now it seems that quite a few that I subscribe to will no longer be. Hmmmpf!  First, there was my much loved HOME COMPANION that went bye~bye. BTW, thanks for the heads up Home Companion people...not! The publishing company decided that my remaining subscription would be filled with the Martha Stewart magazine. I do not like this magazine. Now, don't get me wrong, I do LOVE Martha and I think she is quite talented, but the magazine....not so much. I've also heard that Domino and Country Home are also on the chopping block and yep, I have subscriptions to them too. I hope this doesn't mean that I will now receive 3 years of Martha's magazine. Anyway, there is my rant. Now on to some brighter magazine news.

My friend Tricia from Vintage Bliss has started a FABULOUS little magazine called Blissfully Traveled, that showcases different boutiques and artsy events. I just received my first copy and I LOVE it! Here it is...

Now, a little bit about my holiday weekend. The hubby and I had a wonderful relaxing Valentine's Day. We don't go out to the fancy restaurants on this holiday anymore, as we got tired of the preset menu's and the INFLATED prices. We actually went to a little Mexican restaurant for tacos and margaritas. It was really nice. As for my Valentine gift, the hubby knows that I don't like to throw flowers into the garbage, so he buys me rose bushes instead.

Speaking of flowers...my wild flowers are starting to come up. It won't be long before this walkway will be bursting with color! Yay!

Well, there is an addition to this little area. Now, if the weather would cooperate, so that I can get some grouting done, I hopefully will be able to share it with you by weeks end. :-)

Random this and that

It seems that as soon as a new year begins, I find myself in the first few months, nesting. Nesting as in moving furniture around, changing up displays throughout the house, cleaning out a junk drawer or two and so on. As is my nature, I have a few of these projects going on at the same time.  Here is one that is actually finished and it started with a Christmas present I received from daughter #4. She thought it was a crazy present request, but I really wanted it and I really love it.

Here it is. A ceiling medallion.

 

I wanted it for my kitchen chandelier which is above my kitchen table. I painted it the same color as my kitchen island (above).

 

After painting it, I decided that the chandelier needed some jewelry and color.

 

 

I really love how it turned out! Now I need to get the vacuum cleaner out and get after those cob webs I spied above my curtains. :-/

Here is a couple of pics of my garden right now. I thought it might add some cheer to those of you in the wintery parts of the country. :-)

Business and Pleasure

Hello! I Hope everyone had a very nice weekend. I sure did!

It started out with the hubby and I taking a trip south to Tucson for Business. You see, there is the most FABULOUS art shop there called Bohemia and they are now selling my mosaics (Yay!) I was going to drive down to Tucson on Friday to deliver my goods, but then the hubby asked if I could change it to Saturday and he would go with me. Well, what a grand idea that was, as we had so much fun.

First, we stopped at Bohemia

Here is the cupcake made just for Tana, Bohemia owner.

We had a lovely chat with Keli (a fabulous Bohemia employee) and then she directed us to a wonderful Mexican restaurant where we ate way too much. It was delish!

We went down to 4th Avenue where there are all kinds of independent funky shops. We shopped a bit, chatted a bit with the locals and walked alot. It was a beautiful day for it, as the temp was in the 70's.

Then, out of the blue and not previously planned, we decided to stay the night. We booked a room at the Marriott and they were kind enough to give us toothbrushes and toothpaste after we told them that this was a spur of the moment plan. We then walked to a local bar and had a few cocktails and chatted with some more locals. Our room had a lovely view of the mountains, especially since we were on the 8th floor. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning and have this lovely view to start the day off. We went and had a great breakfast and then drove home. In our more than 20 something years together, we have never done anything so spur of the moment like this before. It was wonderful and we decided that we MUST do this more often.  :-)

So, now it's back to work!
