Hello Everyone! Stopping by to tell you about a funny thing that happened to me this week. I was in my studio working my fingers to the bone, and when the temperatures are not extreme, I like to open my door that leads out to my side garden. I normally sit in front of a big window, as it gives me plenty of good lighting and I'm able to see the goings on in front of the house. So, as I said before, I was working my fingers to the bone and suddenly I hear cooing and flapping behind my head. Before I could turn around, I felt the flapping ON my head and then flapping in my face. My arms starting flapping, not like a birds arms do, but more like a crazed womans would if she had a good size bird flapping it's wings in her face. All the while I'm flapping, I'm trying to scoot my chair back from my work table and thinking to myself that I need to invest in a chair with wheels, as this chair is not moving very fast. Finally, in what seemed like forever, I was able to remove myself from this attack (thrown in for a dramatic effect) and see that it was..........
just a dove. The dove then tries to fly THROUGH the window! AND then again! Well, after a few attempts at this, he is a bit stunned and sitting on my unfinished butterfly mosaic!! I would think, poor bird and then I would think, he's going to mess up my hours of work! I'm not very skittish when it comes to animals, so I calmly placed a piece of fabric over him and when he stopped flapping, I carefully picked him up and took him outside where he immediately flew off. I turned around to see my Pugs staring at me with the funniest looks on their faces....like what the H--- are you doing mom?! Or maybe they were just looking at my hair!! Too funny! Just thinking of it all makes me giggle. :-) Whew!
Anyway.........in other news, things are really starting to get busy here. I have MANY irons in the fire and that is why I am a bit late with my posting. For you locals, I will be showing my mosaics in an art show this month at the Mesa Riverwalk. I believe it is on May 23 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will be a monthly show called 4th Fridays. I'll post more about it in the next week or so. Next, I've agreed to be an instructor with ZNE for their 2009 event in California. This is very exciting!!! I will be talking more about this real soon. Then, I have an ad coming out in a national magazine in a couple of weeks, so I'm really busy trying to prepare for that (wish me luck!). Then, there are custom orders on the burner and the list just keeps growing. Too bad it takes soooooooooo long to make a mosaic. :-) Goodness!
In garden news. My rose bushes are blooming like crazy! Love, Love, Love it!!!
My Oleanders are heavy with bloom!
I've finshed up a few more cupcakes and I will hopefully have them posted on my Etsy and my Website sometime today.
My newest mosaic butterfly is about half way finished and I can't wait to show it to you. Also, I'm working on another cake that is very French inspired ~ Oui~Oui!
Until next time..................
Hugs!
