2012 has started out Rough to say the least! There have been a handful of negatives that have slapped me upside the head this year. I won't bore you with list but I will share this: SO SAD!
I have been searching for the right words to say today, but the only appropriate thing that keeps coming to mind is thank you and thank you. I am so sad to say that Bohemia had to close last night. There are many layers and factors that came into play and I apologize that I could not make the plans public until now. It is heartbreaking to be there and gone, but it had to be.
There are so many emotions as Bohemia was more than just a business to me and, I hope, to you. Alas, it was a business and the end is an unfortunate sign of the times. These years have been an incredible journey and I thank you for the lessons and successes and experiences that were part of the Bohemia world. I will miss having them on a daily basis, but know they can exist in other forms.
I implore you to continue your support of local artists, local business and all things home-grown. It is essential for our community (locally and beyond) to rebound and recover. I encourage you to contact me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (520-882-0800) if you would like information about the shop or an artists that we worked with. I am happy to help keep this movement going in a different way.
Again, thank you for all the beauty, creative joy, tears and love. You help make Tucson so very special.
Tana Kelch Bohemia
Bohemia was in business for 9 years supporting local artists and it is so SAD to see another locally owned independent business bite the dust! Especially when I see the large number of cars at the Mall down the street. I hope America wakes up and realizes that if we do not support our local businesses, they will be a thing of the past and all we will be left with is the same Big Box Cookie Cutter Businesses from town to town owned by people we don't even know selling goods made in a whole different country. Ugh!
That's my bitch for the day. I'm going to continue with my pity party that I've allowed myself to have this week and then.......well, I'm not sure what then. I've got to start rethinking some things for sure.
